Ultimate LED was created in 2011. Warren Hodder the director has always been involved with motor vehicle repairs and large transport vehicles. He saw and opportunity in 2011 to start up a new business and hopefully apply his knowledge of what he has absorbed over the years into this new adventure
LED lights to the transport industry was still relatively new to the industry and Warren could see good opportunities with the wide variety of lights that was available. Warren is always one to think outside the box.
5 years ago, some of his customers were asking for the forklift blue light awareness lights, so Warren obtained this light and supplied it to his market. Other copied his idea.
3 years ago, a customer wanted a light that would create a red line beam on the ground to create an exclusion zone around a forklift that very one could see. This light is to visually light up the danger zone around a forklift. The light did not exist, so Warren had one made up and supplied it to his market. Others copied his ideas again as there was not a lot to protect.
It is a Laser Safety Halo and is a premium performing light with a safe class 2 rating. The lights will be sold with certificates of safety compliance and will reduce workplace accidents.
With its high quality products, SWAREFLEX has been taking care of visibility and security for road users for almost 70 years. Founded as a division of Swarovski in 1950, the company produces robust and long-lasting reflectors with retroreflective glass elements (SWARO GLASS REFLECTIVES) for a wide range of applications. SWAREFLEX also develops innovative, bespoke solutions for light-guiding glass optics (SWARO LENSES) that combine precision and quality.
SWAREFLEX glass reflectors apply the principle of retroreflection: light is reflected back towards the light source by the biconvex SWARO GLASS REFLECTIVES – irrespective of the direction from which it arrives at the glass element. This ensures that the path of the road remains clear, even in darkness or poor visibility, and the driver is safely guided, ensuring that he has plenty of time to steer or brake to avoid an accident.
Reflectors are subjected to enormous physical and chemical stresses on the roads. They need to be
highly resistant to pressure and impacts, as well as environmental influences such as abrasion, salt
solutions, UV radiation and aggressive exhaust gases. Thanks to its visual, chemical and mechanical
properties, glass meets the requirements for use in these harsh conditions better than other materials.
SWAREFLEX glass reflectors contain high quality, extremely robust and durable SWARO GLASS REFLECTIVES – glass elements made of Swarovski technical glass. SWARO GLASS REFLECTIVES have a precisely calculated shape to provide optimum reflective performance. The back has a highly reflective silver mirror layer and several special protective coatings.
The long-standing expertise and excellent quality in the production of technical glass from Swarovski form the basis for the outstanding product and service portfolio of SWAREFLEX which enables the company to continuously pursue its goal: to protect lives.
SWAREFLEX is a company and trademark of the Swarovski Group.

Dr. Sayed is currently a Professor at the University of British Columbia. He has a number of prestigious awards including the appointment as a UBC Distinguished University Scholar, the ITE Wilbur Smith Distinguished Transportation Educator Award, the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering Sandford Fleming Award, the Transportation Association of Canada Academic Merit Award, the Transportation Association of Canada Gilchrist Medal and several best paper and teaching awards. Dr. Sayed is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. Dr. Sayed is the Editor of the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering and the Director of the Bureau of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Freight Security (BITSAFS-Engineering) at UBC. Dr. Sayed received two early promotions to the Associate and Full Professor levels. He served as a chair of both the Transportation and the computer application divisions of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering. He has authored or coauthored about 250 journal/conference papers and has instructed and organized many short courses and seminars in traffic safety, operations and ITS for the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), the BC Ministry of Transportation (BCMOT), Ashghal (Qatar), Ministry of Public Works (Kuwait), State Farm Insurance (US), and the US Federal Highway Administration, among others.
He also serves on several national and international committees including the US Transportation Research Board safety data and analysis Committee, the US Transportation Research Board future directions for road safety subcommittee, the US Transportation Research Board Pedestrian Committee and the Canadian National Road Safety Committee. He has completed numerous consulting projects in traffic safety and ITS in North America and internationally and has supervised 60 Master and Ph.D. students. Dr.
Sayed’s transportation engineering research has been focused within three main areas: 1) to improve road safety analysis and evaluation techniques, 2) to improve the level of knowledge associated with the safety implications of traffic operations and highway design, and 3) developing and evaluating Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to increase the efficiency of traffic.
Dr. Sayed’s research to improve the methods of traffic safety analysis and evaluation is helping to reshape how road safety problems are identified and evaluated. The methods and techniques developed have received wide recognition and are being used by several agencies such as the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), US State Farm Insurance, US AAA Michigan, and the US Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Dr. Sayed has completed numerous safety audits in Canada, the US and the Middle East. Improving the understanding and relationship between safety performance and traffic operations/road design is another research interest of Dr. Sayed and responds to the demand for this knowledge among transportation professionals. A good example of the applicability of his research within this area, are the methods that developed to explicitly evaluate safety and design consistency. His research work led to an evaluation framework that was adopted by BCMOT to evaluate the new design of the Sea to Sky Highway, located between Vancouver and Whistler, in southern British Columbia. The highway is being rebuilt to meet the demand for the 2010 Winter Olympics with a budget exceeding 1.00 billion dollars. This framework allowed decision makers the opportunity to analyze the safety benefits in relation to the cost of new highway design improvements. This facilitated a “trade-off” analysis that allowed for the justification and rationalization of highway infrastructure investment levels.
Within the area of ITS and traffic operations, Dr. Sayed’s research to develop a comprehensive strategy for Transit Signal Priority has been successfully applied on two corridors in Vancouver. Also, on a strategic level, he helped establish a provincial ITS vision and strategic plan for using advanced technologies to help solve provincial, regional and local transportation issues. He has supervised the completion of many ITS projects as the Director of the Bureau of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Freight Security (BITSAFS-Engineering) at UBC.
Dr. Bill Sowell has been involved worldwide with Intelligent Transportation Systems and the development of ITS standards and technology for more than 30 years. He has managed ITS-related firms, large and small, both publicly traded and privately held in the United States, United Kingdom, Latin America and Asia. He has held senior management positions with such companies as Eberle Design, Econolite, Iteris, Image Sensing Systems, Peek Traffic, Swarco Middle East, TEC Engineering (Saudi Arabia) and Al Nasr International (UAE). He holds two Doctoral degrees and two Master’s degrees, and attended such institutions as California State University, University of Southern California, and the University of Oklahoma. He played a key role in the early design and development of the Saudi ATVAM project, the Mohammad Bin Zayed City Project in Abu Dhabi, and the adoption of the NTCIP systems open communications protocol in Chile, Brazil, China and Saudi Arabia. He is a member of the International Road Federation (IRF) Executive Board of Directors, and currently services as Chairman of the IRF Intelligent Transportation Systems Committee. He also chairs the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA) “Performance Measures Technical Committee” and has lived and worked internationally for more than 25 years, promoting safe and efficient Intelligent Transportation Systems solutions.
